Additional Information

Pasadena High School is looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Part-Time Color Guard Technician to join our thriving marching arts program! If you have a passion for educating young high schoolers about color guard and the marching arts, we want to hear from you. You'll play a key role in developing our students' choreographic foundation, teamwork, and leadership skills.

What You'll Do:

As our Color Guard Technician, you'll work closely with the Color Guard Director and marching band staff to bring our educational curriculum to life. Your responsibilities will include:

Collaborating on and implementing engaging educational curriculum.

Leading dynamic classes in movement, flag, and weapon (rifle/sabre) techniques.

Cleaning and refining choreography for field shows and performances, ensuring our students shine.

Providing constructive feedback using a pedagogical approach that fosters growth and learning.

Potentially choreographing non-extensive elements as needed.

Attending three "zero-period" rehearsals per week (7:30 AM - 9:00 AM).

Attending one evening rehearsal per week (tentatively Wednesdays, 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM).

There's no requirement to attend football games, and we can discuss show/performance day attendance.

There's also the exciting possibility of teaching and coaching both JV and Varsity teams during the winter guard season!

Hourly Pay Rate: $18.00

Qualifications:

We're seeking a dedicated individual who meets the following qualifications:

  • You must be 18 years of age or older.
  • You'll need to successfully complete a background check and be cleared by the Pasadena Unified School District.
  • Prior teaching experience in color guard or marching arts is a plus, but not required – we're open to training the right person!
  • A performance background in dance, drum corps, independent ensembles, or college-level color guard groups is preferred, but also not a requirement.
  • Extensive knowledge of weapon (rifle/sabre) techniques is a bonus, but not essential.

Ready to Inspire?

If you're eager to make a positive impact on high school students through the art of color guard, we encourage you to apply! Please submit your resume and a brief statement of interest to Arturo Castro
