The American Drum Line Association (ADLA) was founded originally in 1983 under the name Southern California Drum Line Circuit (SCDLC). Changing names in 1999 to the American Drum Line Association.
Drum Line/Percussion events started in outdoor venues such as football fields and gradually moved to indoor venues such as theaters, gymnasiums and arenas during the early 2000’s. Early on
The mission of the ADLA is create performance opportunities and events for young performers. These events occur throughout the year and include over 175 ensembles in the Southwestern United States. Performers range in age from 10-22 and participate in a variety of Scholastic and Independent Divisions including Junior High, Concert, High School, and Independent divisions.
